Looking A Food Customer Ahead How Can You Save Consumers Time?

Foodservice Solutions® Grocerant Guru® identified, quantified, and qualified how “The 65 Inch HDTV Syndrome” was slowing restaurant growth. Not only was it slowing restaurant same store sales customer counts year after year.  It continues to drive change in the entire foodservice sector.

Now a The Hartman Group’s new report, Culture of Food: New Appetites, New Routines, reveals that fundamental shifts in technology, travel and trade have placed food back at the center of everyday life and popular culture. Food is fun and important. Interest in food isn’t a mere Millennial generational trait or the domain of Mom but a reflection of an evolving food culture encompassing all consumers.”

One key finding contained within the report is consumer there is little if any change in the problem consumers have in deciding what to make for dinner.  Here is a chart from the report:

What has changed is the number of new fresh food retailers, with points of fresh food distribution that offer fresh prepared foods that either do not require cooking from scratch or need no cooking at all.  The focus has become about the power of choice; and today the choice is about how to save time.

Most consumers do not want to do dishes, cook from scratch or plan a meal.  They do want to eat Ready-2-Eat and Heat-N-Eat Fresh Prepared meal components.  Foodservice Solutions® Grocerant Guru® outlined the case for saving consumers time at the 2015 SJU “Fresh” Food Summit.
